Hi, thanks so much for all the info in your site and I did find it by typing in "Xb windshields" on google. No, I won't call you names because 1) I'm pretty passive and 2) I'm semi-concerned that I may also have not one but two Scion lemons so I plan on taking your documentation advice. By the way, my two ScionXb's are both brand new 2008 models just purchased June 11, 2007.
Apparently the great windshield "redesign" isn't too great because my son's car magically got his huge crack just two weeks after getting the cars while driving on the interstate. His father was in the car at the time and said that neither of them saw or heard any impact , the windshield just suddenly cracked out of nowhere without any other cars nearby. Yesterday, July 31st, 2007, I had almost the same exact experience while driving on the interstate in the evening. A larger SUV swerved about 20 feet in front of me while changing lanes and must have sent a pebble my direction. I did not even hear an impact, but my passenger yelled out that my windshield had just cracked!
So two different cars, but both brand new Xb's with less than 1,000 miles on either one and both with mysteriously cracked windshields within 6 weeks of purchase. I am starting to wonder if I need to be worried. Oh, and while my car's crack was small enough for the glass company to repair, my son's car will have to wait up to two months for a new windshield to be shipped from Japan at a cost of at least $500! Apparently the new model is so new that the U.S. glass companies do not have the windshields in stock yet, or at least that is what the lady at Jack Morris Auto Glass told me after my dealership referred me to an outside service provider. ("We don't do windshield repairs or replacements here at the dealership.")
So again, thanks for your site and I only wish I had found it when I was doing my pre-purchase research where I found all the sites with glowing praise for the Xb. In all fairness, I will say that aside from the windshield issue both my son and I love our Xb's and I will be sadly disappointed and disillusioned if they turn out to be lemons. So, thanks again for your helpful site.
